Here is the link to the official worldwide geocaching website to learn more about this game or hobby. Try to find a few in your own neighborhood. They have steered me to little parks in my area that I never knew existed.
http://www.geocaching.com/
Geocaching - Is the hobby or game of using a GPS unit to search for a container placed by others that may contain fun trinkets or sometimes just a small logbook and pen to sign your name. If you take a trinket from a cache you are expected to leave an item.
We are going to follow their rules about placing, maintaining and about respecting the environment and the caches that we place, or find out at RR.
RR caches will not be posted on the official geocache website as they are only available to us RR owners.
They will only be posted on this site at this time.
I think Geocaching is a great hobby for families to really enjoy the RR property.

The sizes of caches
Micro - Film canister size or smaller Small - Soup can size Medium - Quart to Half Gallon size Large - Gallon jug size Jumbo - 5 gallon bucket, usually we just hide this one full of cash.
Difficulty rating - 1-5 , with 1 as the easiest, 5 as the most difficult.
TRAILSIDE vs. HIKE IN - very, very important!! With the vehicles that we have at RR, of course every cache CAN be driven to, but if there is not an established road and the cache says hike in, please, I beg you to walk that last 300 - 400 feet to the cache and do not make a new trail that will become a new road to the cache site.

If anyone has any questions regarding geocaching or needs assistance in hiding or finding a cache, we would love to help. Just ask, I am sure Team FishFry feels the same way.
Hints are also free if you can't find a cache, let me know. Night searches are also very challenging, if you want to turn up the difficulty level on an easy cache.
To spice things up a bit, we are going to stuff some scratch off lottery tix in some of the next caches we place.

RRR012 and 013 have been placed, but I have not confirmed the GPS co-ords. I also like my wife to search for them with a different GPS unit to ascertain the proper difficulty rating.
I have a few more out there as soon as I double check them, I will post the info up.
NOW GO LOOK FOR THE REST OF THEM!!
I will also be out this weekend, if anyone needs any assistance with this game. |

Have fun! Please record your "Found" or "Did not find" on the individual cache's post, thank you.
Anyone else that has found them should do the same.

It is best to post your results while it is fresh in your mind, as you can comment on the caches more accurately. So please post something, it is the only way this game at RR will grow.
Yes, some people have found some of them. Including your kids.
Fish you must be in some serious geocaching burnout if you haven't searched for the RRR caches. (Fishfry has located about 200 caches on the national geocaching website and has placed 34 caches).
C'mon Fish, shake it off. Place a few RRR caches so I can go searching. |
